Striving Towards Academic Responsibility and Success (STARS)

STARS (Striving Towards Academic Responsibility and Success) provides educational support services targeted to African-American males ages 10-14 who are not yet involved in the juvenile justice system who need cultural, academic, and social assistance. The primary purpose is to provide educational support to students having difficulties in core subjects such as math, science, and language arts. Additionally, staff provide counseling in behavioral and emotional management and communications skills. STARS seeks to position participants for success at their home schools in the following academic semester. Follow-up is provided for at least one academic year.
