Description
Services for adults with physical and sensory impairments have been developed to
promote full consumer participation in the community. Service provision is intended
to provide access to the same opportunities and responsibilities that other people
the same age are experiencing.

as well as, information on how to help.
Athritis
and Related Diseases - Arthritis is actually an umbrella term used for
a group of more than 100 medical conditions. The Arthritis Foundation web site provides
facts on arthritis, the different forms, and management principles.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease - This American Lung Association web site provides information
on the prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- The Laurnet Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University web site
provides information on the prevalence, causes, and research related to deafness/hearing
loss.
Multiple Sclerosis
- The National Multiple Sclerosis Society web site provides information on the symptoms,
diagnosis, causes, and treatments related to multiple sclerosis.
Neuromuscular Diseases -
This Muscular Dystrophy Association web site provides information on the characteristics,
age of onset, progression, and other information related to muscular dystrophy and
related diseases.
Spinal Cord Injury
- This State of Wisconsin web site provides information regarding the prevalence,
causes, and costs of spinal cord injury in Wisconsin. There is also a link to the
National Spinal Cord Injury Association.
Stroke - The
National Stroke Association web site provides information on stroke prevention,
risk factors, symptoms, types, and recovery.
Vision Impairment - The
Centers for Disease Control web site provides information on the what is vision
impairment, prevalence, causes and prevention, economic impact, and other resources.
