Family Care Study Agenda
The Chairs of the
Health and Human Needs Committee, Human Services Board, Long Term Support Committee, and Area
Agency on Aging Board (oversight committees of the Department of Human Services) have
developed an agenda to study various components of Family Care. A series of meetings have
been scheduled. The format for the meetings includes a speaker to address the topic for the
evening; presenters provide background and information on the topic followed by a question
and answer period where committee members can ask more detailed questions of the presenters.
All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and are held at the Job Center Office (1819 Aberg Ave.,
Madison, WI 53704) in the Ballroom.

Planning for Change in Long Term Care (Family Care)
In February 2006, Dane County was awarded a $100,000 Long Term Care Reform planning grant from the
Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services (WDHFS). Dane County worked on this initiative
with managed care partners, Community Living Alliance, Inc., and Elder Care of Wisconsin, Inc. Rock
County received a $30,000 grant from WDHFS in June 2006 and joined Dane County and its partners in
the planning process.
The target groups covered under this grant were older adults and people with physical disabilities.
During the planning process committees were formed to address different components of the Managed
Care Organization and Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) development. We considered
incorporating services for people with mental health and substance abuse needs and people with
developmental disabilities into the ADRC and the managed care program.
The final grant report was submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in July 2008.
During the planning process significant work was completed on a draft plan for an ADRC in Dane
County. The Dane-Rock region did not submit a plan or timeline for implementation of Family Care in
this region. Dane County continues to consider Family Care. Joint committees have developed an agenda
for areas of study that are scheduled through December 2008.
