Description

The Weekend Report Center operated by the Neighborhood Intervention Program is for adjudicated youth that have violated some portion of their court order. It can be utilized as an alternative to detention.

General Eligibility

Youth between the ages of 10 and 17 who are currently under court supervision. Youth must be in violation of one or more parts of their court order or consent decree.

How to Apply

Referrals are initiated by the assigned Dane County Department of Human Services Social Worker.

Services

Service provided include:

1. Accountability:
   • Community gift.
   • Reports sent to ongoing social worker
2. Community Protection:
   • Conducting random curfew checks (face-to-face and phone calls).
3. Competency Development:
   • Tutoring services.
   • Discussion groups (including role playing)
   • Anger management/conflict resolution groups.

The Weekend Report Center operates Friday-Sunday. On Friday the hours are 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with phone checks throughout the evening. On Saturday, the hours are 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with phone check the rest of the day and night. On Sunday, youth are home restricted and phone and face-to-face checks are done throughout the day and night.

The typical length of services is between 1 and 4 weekends. Youth will be successful if they complete all programming and checks. Youth who have failed to complete 2 weekends will not be allowed back at the Weekend Report Center unless ordered by the Court.

Cost

There is a $25.00/per month fee for all youth placed under Human Services supervision. This fee is waived if the juvenile is placed outside the parental home. In these instances, however, a monthly fee is charged for the placement. Parents are sent information by Dane County fiscal representatives which help determine the amount of the fee.
